SEA CHANGE launch letter

October 13, 2021

Like many real estate brokers, we’ve wanted to be more directly involved in the conversation about how to make housing in Seattle more inclusive. As Realtors, we work in a market that is led by just that, the market. But the market isn’t the only thing we believe in. We believe in housing opportunity for all and we understand how important housing is to building generational stability, which everyone deserves.

Most of us are extremely concerned about the region’s lack of affordable housing. We spend our lives trying to find homes for clients whom we care about and we feel the squeeze when there’s no inventory that’s affordable. To promote dialogue about how we can be part of the solution to some of our region’s housing challenges, we’re starting this blog and a quarterly broker-to-broker newsletter (which we encourage you to sign up for below). The mission of this effort can be found in the name SEA CHANGE, because we want to:

  • Support agents with tools for working with buyers in every price range.
  • Educate us all by delving into Seattle’s history of segregation and housing exclusion.
  • Amplify organizations whose work is creating change and events that build community or inspire action.

We hope you’ll find SEA CHANGE valuable and will share it with interested colleagues. While we know this Initiative won’t solve all of the region’s problems, we feel like it helps us all be a part of the change that we want to see in our city.

Thanks for reading!
